Changing Schools and Moving to a New Home in the DMV

Schools are Out for the Summer in DMV! What are Your Plans for September?
Moving to the Washington, DC Metro Area?

Summer is here, and children are out of school. The spring real estate market has calmed down, so summer is a great time to buy a home, relocate to the DMV and move in, and settle before school starts in September. Homebuyers all have different priorities when choosing a home to purchase. Some folks are relocating to the Washington, DC Metro Area. Some current residents want a bigger house, and some homebuyers seek the ideal public school option for their families. Some homebuyers do not have children but understand that being in a desirable school district will benefit them when they resell their homes. School districts affect home values clearly and measurably.

What makes a "desirable school district?" That's a homebuyer's personal decision based on their needs and goals. Due to the complexity, there are many resources out there that will help buyers make an educated and thoughtful decision. At Buyer's Edge | BuyerAgent.com, we recommend our clients start HERE. The link to greatschools.org can be found at the bottom of every page on our website. That's how important our exclusive buyer agents think it is.

While researching the best school district for your goals, don’t rely solely on your Realtor or school district maps. Both can provide outdated information! Go directly to the source since school districts can change. Call the school district and verify that the home you want to buy is currently in that territory. Then ask if there are any plans for the territory to be changed in the near future.
